| Solar Installers Bring The Sun To You |

The increased awareness of global warming has made many people more interested in the problems inherent in the use of fossil fuels and, at the same time, the benefits provided by our sun. The growing band of solar installers has ways of harnessing the sun and putting it to our use.
Solar energy has always been appreciated by mankind – we all like to be warm. More recent technology has devised ways of diverting the sun’s heat for use in the modern home. For maximum benefit, the technology should be applied correctly and this has produced a new group of technicians, Solar installers.
The simplest way to use the sun’s energy is to collect it in solar panels and use it to heat water or air. It is simple to say, but rather more complicated to do. Solar installers need to be skilled in plumbing and pipe fitting, electrical wiring, boiler installation and have a good head for heights.
Many modern solar installers began in business as plumbers. Because of the stringent rules and requirements covering the plumbing industry, they are likely to be highly-trained, time-served technicians. In professional terms, they will probably be CORGI registered (for working on boilers) and NICEIC registered (for electrical work).
Add to these factors an interest and belief in alternative technology and your average solar installers are probably as geared to helping the greener householder adapt to the new technology as anyone can.
As you would expect from a trade which takes care with their work, most solar installers are also members of trade associations. These ensure a proper standard of workmanship and value. The Solar Standards Association (SSA) sets out a code of practice for its members and issues certificates to this standard to all qualifying solar installers.
The most common system for using solar energy in the home is the fitting of solar panels to collect the sun’s heat and transfer that heat to a tank to produce hot water. This is where your solar installers’ head for heights comes in – solar panels are usually fitted on the roof.
The heat collected by the panel goes to the water in a hot water storage tank. Some piping will always be necessary to make this link, which all solar installers can easily provide. Equally, they will install a tank, if you do not already have one and link it to your existing hot water system.
Houses vary considerably and finding a solar energy system to suit one’s home, needs and pocket may be far from straightforward. This is where solar installers can provide a vital service. They will be able to assess your home and discuss your specific needs, then advise on the system most suited to both.
Then it is over to the professionals. Solar installers will carry out all the agreed work and save you having to climb onto the roof or scramble through the loft.
They will also save you money in the long run. Adding solar power to your energy usage will reduce conventional energy bills noticeably. Solar installers work for all of us to improve efficiency and consider the planet, too. |
